My vote ....

Aaah Democracy ! Today,I voted for the parliament for the first time.It was a strange feeling- empowerment and freedom.Deciding on the party to vote for was far tougher than I first thought.I went through a serious and lengthy thought process to decide on the party to vote for. There were only three options on the table for me - SAD-BJP,Congress and Communists Party.
The reason I voted against the SAD-BJP was their abysmal governance record in Punjab.Long power cuts and water shortage are the norm.We pay more for electricity and receive even lesser than before. It might appear that I voted keeping in mind the local record.True, but it's not entirely correct. The PM candidate - LK Advani seems only interested in the 'kursi'.I couldn't recall his vision for the nation, nothing significant anyways. He's been unabashedly trying to win the post right from the Jinnah controversy. His has been the longest campaign for the PM job.
Voting in a communist almost ensures an honest and spirited person on the job. However the comunists are stuck in the past, their politics is stagnant, they refuse to evolve witht time.Voting for the Communists would have been a wate of my vote for the simple reason that they are incapable of forming a government at the centre on their own and the third front coalition is an extremely unstable prospect.
So,it was left to the Congress.Now.I am not a Congress supporter by any stretch.Infact,I am opposed to some of their core policies - Dynasticism and their pseudo-secularism .Manmohan Singh,an honest and well meaning gentleman appears nothing more than a front man for the Gandhis. So,it was not due to any of their apparent merits did I vote for the Congress ,it was more the case of a lesser evil....
