There's an aura that surrounds the special forces .These are the soldier's soldier.They are the mavericks,the game changers.They are the most lethal,the most aggressive and the most competent men.It's a fact that the SAS almost single handedly won Africa for the allied forces.They are characterized by a disdain for convention,compulsion for daredevilry and a stubborn resistance to fear.It's said about the special forces that they - 'Live by chance,love by choice and Kill by profession'.However,it's not all gung-ho machismo,the special forces train harder than any other troops.Some of the most renowned special forces are -Special Air Service,Spetsnaz,Special Boat Service,Seals,Green Berets,Delta Force.The Indian Navy's marine commandos are also some of the very best.What makes them so deadly is that they have a unique distinction of operating from every terrain-sea,air and land.The MARCOS are excellent swimmers and trained paratroopers.The typical operations for the special forces are reconnaisance,infiltrations behind enemy lines,counter terrorism etc.Here's a Natgeo documentary on the Green Berets in Afghanistan -
