Last evening I was watching the swearing-in ceremony (and yes I had nothing better to do).I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of ministers who were atheists or agnostics.I could tell by their manner of takiing oath.While the majority of the ministers swore 'I,.......swear in the name of God...'; there were a few who swore as 'I,.....do affirm..' ,these were the non-believers - Sharad Pawar,Mamata Banerjee,AK Antony.There was the curious case of Sushil Kumar Shinde,a religious man who also took oath without invoking God.On being inquired,he stated that God was a pious and sacred thing and he always swore without invoking God .I wonder what kind of unholy actions he's planning on,atleast he's open about his intentions !!!
Anyways,Manmohan Singh is all set to make history.If he completes the 5 year term,he'll be only the second PM to complete two consecutive 5-year terms after Nehru.Manmohan's elevation is nothing short of spectacular.No script writer could have possibly written such a story.Well,again Truth is stranger than Fiction.......
